Four days that catch your ear
The Saalfelden Jazz Festival begins on Thursday evening with the City Stage concerts on the Rathausplatz, which are free of charge.
The event is then officially opened on Friday evening on the Main Stage of the Congress: every year, the organisers Michaela Mayer and Mario Steidl award the opening project to an Austrian musician. This year, saxophonist Gerald Preinfalk will present an international project as a world premiere.
The aim of this festival is to explore and push the boundaries of jazz. Musicians such as Kjetil Moster, Steve Lehman, Michael Riessler, Eve Risser, Sinikka Langeland and Mats Gustafsson do this in their own individual way and will once again provide jazz fans with new discoveries this year - a hallmark of the festival in Saalfelden Leogang.
Diverse programme on Saalfelden's stages
The already sold-out "Shortcuts" at Kunsthaus Nexus offer even more space for experimental sounds. In the evening, "Nexus+" offers a stage to Austrian artists such as 5/8erl in Ehr'n, Yasmo & die Klangkantine, Expressway Sketches and a high-calibre improv poetry slam - all free of charge. There will also be a "children's concert" on Sunday, which will take girls and boys aged four and up on a musical journey.
The festival offers very special stages with the so-called Almkonzerte concerts, which take place against the impressive backdrop of the Pinzgau mountains: on the Biberg, on the Kühbühel, on the Asitz in Leogang and at the Einsiedelei in Saalfelden - one of the last hermitages in Europe.
A youth package is also being offered for the first time this year. Students up to the age of 26 can purchase a 3-day pass in category D for as little as 55 euros - camping is free for all three days. A standard 3-day pass including overnight stay in a hostel is available for as little as 142 euros and day tickets from 57 euros.
