Theo Ceccaldi invites Tomeka Reid
This event has already taken place.France, USA
Theo Ceccaldi – violin
Tomeka Reid – cello
In classical music, violin and cello are often heard in duets. There are arrangements of Mozart's "Duos for 2 Horns", Haydn and Sibelius have composed specifically for this pairing. It is a pleasure to listen to Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman and their symphonic version of one of Art Tatum's favorite exercises: Dvořák's "Humoresque". It is unlikely but not impossible that French jazz violinist Theo Ceccaldi and his invited guest Tomeka Reid on the cello are planning to play something similar. Independently of each other, they are best known for the new and exciting possibilities they bring to their respective instruments. Their interaction is highly promising – also, to become more than the sum of its parts.
