The outlook for the summer probably raises great hope in all of us for a return to normality and, fortunately, this also applies to cultural events.
We are very happy to have decided, back in April, to organize this year's festival in the best possible way - similar to 2019.
With the Main Stage and Short Cuts - the centerpieces of our festival - we return with those stages that are very dedicated to international formations this year.
Due to the changes set in 2019, it was only possible at all last year to use newly conquered spaces for an alternative festival (Jazz Saalfelden Weekender). This year we continue to build on this, use the new spaces and expand them further, such as with the Otto-Gruber-Hall, an empty construction hall from the 50s, but also with concerts in the great outdoors. The book bindery Fuchs will once again become a spontaneous meeting place for improvising musicians, and the Stadtpark, which will be roofed for the first time, will be a meeting place for international and local audiences.
Also new is the festival start on Monday: with guided hikes and a bike tour to concerts on the mountains, we want to enable our audience to explore and experience the beautiful surroundings of Saalfelden Leogang even more intensively. And concerts will also take place in the Kunsthaus Nexus as early as Monday evening.
The 41st Saalfelden Jazz Festival will take place with more than 60 concerts from August 16 - 22, 2021, around 40 of which will be with free admission.
With more than 30 projects, Austrian artists will, as always, be given a particularly large space, not least with Christian Reiner, who will be a guest in Saalfelden as artist in residence with a total of five projects.
Information on tickets and seat reservations will probably be announced at the end of June on the website www.jazzsaalfelden.com. Here we still ask for a little patience!
